TTabulens RUPT Windows Open app

Tabulens for Windows

A single Tabulens.exe file — 3.5 MB. It installs nothing, unpacks nothing next to itself and works without the internet: for a closed network this is the delivery method — copy the file to a USB stick and run it.

Download Tabulens.exe

3.5 MB · build 2026-10-04 · Windows 10 and 11. Nothing to install — just run it.

Free for personal use. Organizations: license.

No installation

No installer and no administrator rights. Settings are kept in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tabulens, so the program runs from a USB stick and from a network folder you cannot write to.

No network

Everything it needs is built into the file. The internet is not needed to start or to work, and files still go nowhere.

Same as the website

The same client inside: DBF, Excel, ODS, CSV, XML, JSON, SQLite and Access, filters, comparison, duplicates, splitting and merging files.

Open from Explorer

Associate the program with a file extension — and the table opens with a double click. A memo file next to a .dbf is picked up automatically.

Checksum

A file is often carried on a USB stick or dropped into a shared folder. To make sure it was not replaced or damaged on the way, compare the SHA-256 sum of the downloaded file with this one:

67d21c757f325133067c7cf8ddff785806398cce6c55315cef7ea1f159a6943b

You can compute the sum with built-in Windows tools, in PowerShell:

Get-FileHash .\Tabulens.exe -Algorithm SHA256

or in the command prompt: certutil -hashfile Tabulens.exe SHA256. Letter case does not matter; everything else must match exactly.

If Windows shows a warning

The file is not signed with a publisher certificate. So on first launch the SmartScreen filter may show a “Windows protected your PC” window with an unknown publisher. It is a warning about the signature, not about a threat that was found. Compare the checksum, then click “More info” → “Run anyway”.

What your computer needs

Launching with a file

You can pass files to the program on the command line — that is how Explorer calls it, and it is just as handy from a script:

Tabulens.exe customers.dbf

Tabulens.exe export.xml report.xlsx

One caveat: a file opened this way is read in full. Through “Open file” it stays on disk and is read in pieces — better for very large exports.

Your file never leaves your computer. Parsing happens in the browser, in a background thread. The page's security policy forbids sending data to third-party addresses — you can check this in the developer tools. After the first visit the app keeps working offline.

FAQ

Is the program paid?

Free for personal use, with no registration and no ads. Organizations need a license: leave a request and we will get in touch.

Do I need administrator rights?

No. The program installs nothing and writes nothing to system folders: settings live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tabulens under your own account.

How is the program different from the website?

It runs the same client as the website, with the same formats and tools. The difference is that it needs neither a browser nor an internet connection: everything is built into the file.

Why does Windows warn about an unknown publisher?

The file is not signed with a publisher certificate, and the SmartScreen filter warns about unsigned programs. Compare the file's checksum with the one on this page, then run it via “More info” → “Run anyway”.

Will there be a version for macOS or Linux?

Only a Windows build is produced for now. On other systems use the web app — it does the same and does not send files to a server either.
