Open ODS Without LibreOffice
A LibreOffice Calc or OpenOffice spreadsheet opens in your browser: with a sheet picker, filters and export to Excel. There is no need to install an office suite.
Free for personal use. The format is recognized by extension and by the file's content. Windows version — 3.5 MB, no installation: details. Organizations: license.
The value, not the label
The number is taken from the cell's attribute, not from the displayed text: “€1.50” on screen is the number 1.5 in the file, and sums and sorting work on it.
Repeats are expanded correctly
ODS writes “repeat this cell 1024 times” instead of a thousand empty ones. A naive parser creates a million empty rows — here the trailing emptiness is discarded.
Dates and time
Dates, times and boolean values are read by the cell's type, multi-paragraph text — in full.
Sheets and merges
The sheet is chosen in “File parsing”, merged areas are handled the same way as in Excel.
From ODS to Excel and back
The open sheet is exported to .xlsx, CSV, DBF, JSON, SQL, and also back to .ods — with dates written as dates, not text, otherwise you cannot sort by them.
Edits can be saved into the same .ods. The file is rebuilt in the process: data is kept, the original file's formatting is not.

FAQ
How does .ods differ from .xlsx?
Both are ZIP archives with XML inside, but the markup differs: ODS is the open OpenDocument standard, XLSX is the Office Open XML format. The contents of a table move between them without loss; formatting does not always.
How much can it handle?
The contents of a sheet are parsed into memory: up to 256 MB unpacked.
Why did an empty row disappear after saving?
In ODS a completely empty row is indistinguishable from the padding of a sheet to its edge, and when read back it cannot be told from “nothing”. So a row with no values at all is not saved.
