Open SQLite Online

A SQLite database — from a mobile app, an accounting program or a browser — opens as a table: with filters, grouping, editing and export to Excel. The file stays on your computer.

Open your database Download for Windows

Free for personal use. .db, .sqlite, .sqlite3, .db3 and files without an extension work — the database is recognized by its content. Windows version — 3.4 MB, no installation: details. Organizations: license.

Pick a table

The first table of the database opens; choose another in “File parsing” — or open all tables at once, a tab for each.

A big database is no problem

A table is read directly, page by page, without an SQL engine. On opening only the table structure is walked; rows are fetched as you scroll.

Types as in the database

Dates written as ISO text are shown as dates, BOOLEAN as boolean, 64-bit identifiers without rounding. A BLOB is shown as its size.

Editing with the real engine

Cells, new and deleted rows are saved to the database by the official SQLite engine — in one transaction. Indexes, triggers and constraints work as in any program; on an error the file is left unchanged.

Your file never leaves your computer. Parsing happens in the browser, in a background thread. The page's security policy forbids sending data to third-party addresses — you can check this in the developer tools. After the first visit the app keeps working offline.

What is supported

A phone-app SQLite database opened as tables: pick a table, filter, export
WhatHow
EncodingsUTF-8, UTF-16le, UTF-16be — from the database header
INTEGER PRIMARY KEYthis is the rowid; for tables without such a key the rowid is a service column, hidden by default
WITHOUT ROWIDsupported, up to 2 million rows
ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMNrows written before the column was added have an empty value
Long valuestext and BLOBs that did not fit in a page are assembled from the chain of overflow pages
Views (VIEW)open as tables — executed by the SQLite engine; read-only
Virtual tablesfull-text FTS5 and R-Tree — also through the engine, read-only
WAL modea -wal journal opened together with the database is attached: the latest changes are visible, an unfinished tail is discarded; without the journal there is a warning
Encrypted databaseSQLCipher and similar do not open without the key — with a clear message

Where to find the files and how to read them: how to open a SQLite .db file, SQLite to Excel and a database from a phone app.

How edits are saved

The app reads the database itself, but only the official SQLite engine, built for the browser, writes it. It is loaded the first time you save a database — about a megabyte — and only then: for those who do not edit databases it costs nothing.

Before editing the working database of a program that is running right now, close that program — or edit a copy: two programs writing to one database from different places know nothing about each other.

SQL queries

“Data” → “SQL query”: SELECT with JOIN, GROUP BY, subqueries and SQLite functions. The result opens in a separate tab — as one more table: filters, grouping and export to Excel work on it too.

Why this when there is DB Browser

DB Browser for SQLite and similar programs can do more — for example change table structure and write to the database with queries. But they must be installed, and on a work computer that is often not allowed. Here a browser is enough, and the database is not sent anywhere: you can see that in the developer tools.

For tasks like “see what is in the database, make a selection, fix a couple of values and export the table to Excel” this is enough.

FAQ

Can I run an SQL query?

Yes, read-only: “Data” → “SQL query”. A SELECT with JOIN, GROUP BY and SQLite functions is executed by the official engine, and the result opens in a tab. Commands that change the database are not executed — edit the data in the tables themselves.

Can I change data in the database?

Yes: edit cells, add and delete rows, then Save. Edits are written by the official SQLite engine in one transaction; if the database does not accept them — for example, a duplicate in a unique field — the file stays as it was. Table structure (columns, indexes) is not changed here.

Why don't I see the latest changes in the table?

The database is most likely in WAL mode and the changes are still in the file ending in -wal beside it. Open the database together with this file — drag both in at once and the journal is attached.

Does the database file go to a server?

No. The database is parsed in the browser tab; the page technically cannot send its content to a third-party address.
