Make a chart from a table in your browser
You need one picture: revenue by region, a trend by month, each department’s share. Normally the export goes to Excel, a pivot table is built, and only then a chart. Here the chart is built straight from the open file, from the same data you see on screen.
How to build one
- Open a file — CSV, Excel, DBF, XML, JSON, SQLite or Parquet.
- Choose “Analysis” → “Chart…”. The dialog suggests a start: a text column for the categories and the sum of a numeric column for the values.
- Pick a type — Columns, Bars, Line or Pie — and change the fields if you like. The chart redraws at once.

The chart is computed over the rows on screen: for one year or one branch, filter first.
Dates and several series
If the categories are a date column, roll it up to year, quarter, month or day — no helper column with the month number is needed. “Split into series” divides every category by another field: you get several lines or colored columns with a legend.

- Measures: sum, row count, average, minimum, maximum.
- Order: largest first or as in the table; at most 6, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 50 categories, the rest fold into “Other”.
- “Table” shows the same numbers as a list — for labels and checking.
Where the result goes
“Save PNG” gives a picture for a slide or an email; “Save SVG” a vector file you can polish in an editor. The colors are chosen so that series stay distinguishable for color-blind readers, and labels read on both light and dark backgrounds.
FAQ
Does the file go to a server?
No. The chart is computed in your browser tab, and the page technically cannot send the file’s contents to any other address.
How is this different from a pivot table?
A pivot table answers with a table of numbers, a chart with a picture of the same data. A pivot is better to export to Excel, a chart to drop into a report.
How many rows can it handle?
As many as the file opens with: values are gathered in one pass over the rows on screen.
Why is nothing drawn?
At least one numeric or date column is needed. If there is none, the dialog says so.
